There are times when you just want to pull your hair out and wonder why you can’t find someone to date. Maybe you are looking at someone on your Facebook friends list who is suddenly in a relationship or you hear about your crazy cousin who is getting married. If these people – who you wouldn’t consider normal or beautiful – can find true love, why can’t you? You might be tired of being single and alone and want to find someone RIGHT NOW!

While finding someone right now might seem like a problem solver, it might not be. When you are desperately searching for someone, anyone to call a date, you will end up with a less than perfect person for you. Whether it is the holidays and you don’t want to be alone or if there is a wedding coming up and you want a date, having a person next to your side might make you skip over being patient and waiting for the right one.

There isn’t anything wrong with being picky and waiting for the right one to show up. And just think, if you were impatient and chose the first person to come along, what happens if the right person does come, but you are too occupied with the wrong one as your date to notice? Being patient and waiting for the right person will happen.

You don’t need to feel bad about being selective or picky. After all, you want someone who is compatible with what you want. Don’t settle for someone less than can make you happy all of the time in your future.

If you have been dating for a while, perfect and date might not be fitting together for you. Every person you seem to go out with has something that you don’t like or enjoy. Or maybe they have two or more things “wrong” with them and you don’t continue on any more dates. Is it even possible in this day and age to find the perfect date for yourself?
You can still find the someone that is perfect for you. The search to find that person might take a little bit, but if you have patience and persistence, then you will have success in the end. And if you are wanting a perfect date for yourself, then it is worth that wait to not settle for something less, right?
How do you find your perfect date then? You can go online and start searching. See what people have profiles that fit descriptions or ideals you want to have. Find websites that are catered to people with similar interests and beliefs, such as Christian singles, horse lovers, people in the Midwest, people who farm, etc. There are sites for all kinds of individual groups who are looking for love – just like you.
You can also go out and do more activities. Throw yourself in to hobbies or interests that you like to do. Chances are, you can meet more new friends or even a single person doing the exact same thing. How better to find someone than by doing a shared liked activity? You already know you have one thing in common, so you are off to a great start before you even go on a date.

For whatever reason, you have been away from the dating game for a while. To shake off the dust, you decide to search the Internet for some tips on etiquette. Things might be different since the last time you dated. So, check for what to do on a date, etiquette and pick up….no! Stop. Don’t use the generic pick up lines you might see on a dating site. Why?
If you are new in to dating, the person you might approach might not be. So, for you a pick up line might be the coolest thing you’ve heard, but they might have heard it three, four or even more times now. Stale. And when you don’t come across as fresh or interesting, your chances of getting a date just plummeted. Instead of relying on the Internet for a few lines, that might or might not even work, do something else.
Rely on your own creativity. Be yourself in a situation. If you are presented with an opportunity to speak to another person, then go ahead and do it. Say something you thought of one your own and don’t draw from what you read online. Being yourself and honest will get you a lot more points than a polished, rehearsed and cheesy pickup line will. Using a stale pickup line will only make it look like you’ve been on the dating circuit a long time – with no luck with your lines – so steer clear of them. They might be funny to read, but not receive. It might only get you more rejection and time alone on a weekend.
